Although you will take great care not to hurt your pet, sometimes accidents happen and you will cut into the quick.

A common question we get is “I cut my dogs toe nails. How do I stop a nail from bleeding?”

There are a few things you can do. If you have a silver nitrate products on hand – you can use that to the bleeding edge to get the bleeding to stop.  You can also use flour or cornstarch to stop the bleeding. If that doesn’t work, apply a light bandage for about 15 minutes. If that doesn’t work, call us and we can help.
