Fall is here and I hope this email finds you and your family healthy. Below is an update on what is going on at the Granville Veterinary Clinic.

We have been very busy. I’m sharing this so you can consider this as you plan your annual examination. We are prioritizing seeing sick pets and emergencies and have an allotted number of vaccine appointment slots per day. We will get your pet’s vaccines done but it may be  a week or two out from the time you call. If you know your pets annual exam and shots are due , please call us so we can get you on the schedule. As we continue to support and protect you and our team our current processes include:

  • Hours – Our goal is to continue to be here for you. We continue to remain open for normal business hours. We provide in person exam-room appointments. Many hospitals still do curb side services only, but we stand firm in our commitment to you while practicing safe standards. We can do curb side if you prefer and communicate with you via cell phone when you arrive and after the exam or procedure is completed.
  • Call First –Please call before you come to the clinic for any reason. We are staggering appointments to minimize your exposure to other people. If you have an appointment, we will let you know when the lobby is clear and thus allow you to go directly into an exam room.
  • One Person – If at all possible, only have one person come with your pet into the building for an appointment.
  • Mask – We require that you please wear a mask when you enter the building unless there is a medical reason that you cannot.
  • Boarding – We are open for boarding for dogs and cats current on their vaccinations.
  • Telemedicine – We have some clients that would prefer to not bring their pet in for a face-to-face appointment. Wehave a system in place to help you get a telemedicine appointment with our doctors. This doesn’t work for every condition but can work great for some problems. Learn more here about how it works.
  • Medication Refills and Food – If you need medication or food, please call and give us a 24-hour notice. Call us when you arrive to pick up your medications. We will take payment over the phone and bring the product out to you if possible. Feel free to also use our online pharmacy and they will deliver the prescription right to your door. Go to: Granville Veterinary Clinic Online Store.
  • If You Are Symptomatic – Please let us know if anyone in your home is symptomatic, you have been exposed or tested positive for COVID, or have any symptoms remotely consistent with COVID. Even a mild suspicion or potential exposure is significant. We can accommodate you and your pet’s care, but we will request you do curb side and not enter the building.
  • Village Pet Market – Hours at the VPM are back to normal. Monday- Thursday 9-6, Friday 9-5 and Saturday 9-3. If you call ahead, you can pre-pay and we can do curbside pickup. The VPM phone number is 740-587-3656. As strange as it may sound, we ask that you not bring your pet/dog inside VPM as to avoid a breech in the social distant world we are in. It is too tempting to pet and give attention to your dog so please help us all abide to the rules for the time being.
  • COVID-19 Update: As far as COVID, according to everything I read, there is still no evidence that dogs or cats are any source of SARS-CoV-2 infection for humans. It appears that clinical infections in dogs are cats are very, very uncommon. There is still a lot we are learning about COVID-19.

Our team is continuing to protect themselves (and you) by maintaining social distancing practices, with meticulous hand washing hygiene before and after handling patients, wearing cloth masks, and gloves when appropriate. We are also working to reduce the number of people in our lobbies to minimize your exposure.
